Israel Holocaust Survivors: Never Again or Never say never?

Israel Holocaust Survivors: Never Again or Never say never?

If you were to able ever have the opportunity to come and visit Israel, you would see a culturally large and diverse group of people, both Arabic and Jewish, doing our best in life to live in peace amongst each other. As well as Jews, some native born, called Sabra, and the other new immigrants, with a difficult, hard and mostly secret past life who migrated to the Holy Land after the great war. Who experienced the hardships of the Holocaust and the extermination of their families: parents, siblings, grandparents and friends at the hands of Hitler and the Nazis.

Today, as you read through this blog article, our hope and longing is to truly shine a light on the hardships of our people. More than 6 million Jews, were persecuted and killed for their beliefs. And even to this day, with the rise in Antisemitism around the Globe, we thought to go directly to the living reliable source who have experienced these hardships, the Holocaust survivors themselves. And let these brave people share their living reality, as Israel Holocaust Survivors.

Yes, there is a remnant of Israel Holocaust Survivors who live here in our country. Those who barely escaped the hands of death and evil by Hitler during the Holocaust in Europe. That has seen more than 6 million of our own people exterminated for their beliefs and culture.

Today in Israel, more than 150,000 living Israel holocaust survivors are alive, and living in the Holy Land. Most of the population being the remnant children who suffered in the holocaust alongside of their parents. And some being the only remaining members of their family that made it out of the living Hell created by Hitler and the Nazis. And currently, one out of three of Israel holocaust survivors  live in poverty. And most, do not have family or friends living with them and suffer from many illnesses and health issues due to their age and financial inability to pay and purchase medicines for life giving medicines and better living situations.

One of the many responsibilities that we here at One Middle East Agency, OMEA, have taken on to help fight for their lives and bring hope, love and relationship to these brave souls who lived in one of the hardest time periods in history. You can checkout, our page for Israel Holocaust survivors, and see how you can help these wonderful people.

the perspective of persecution: Israel Holocaust Survivors Stories

As you can see in the video above, our sweet friend Polina, a Holocaust survivor and a Russian Israeli immigrant. She gave us a moment of her time and allowed us to interview her. She is a Russian Jewish woman who migrated to Israel after the Great War and the Holocaust, and her story of survival is amazing as it is also hard to imagine a life where you are wished dead and your people are destroyed. Please check out her story above and learn how you can help great Israel holocaust survivors like Polina. We were able to bless her for her time and help get groceries for her. She blessed us in so many ways and were humbled that we had the chance to listen to her story of survival. People like Polina, are the real heroes in life.

Never Again, or Never Say Never?

The words “Never Again” are a huge statement that the people of Israel have attached themselves since the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. We used this slogan as a daily reminder of the horrors we faced in Europe and the near extinction of our Jewish people. A reminder that we can never allow our people to be defenseless, helpless and without hope. These words have been a refuge here in the country of Israel and have been a bright beacon and call for all Jews to return to their homeland of Israel. To return to their roots and rebuild the life that their forefathers were promised by God.

Since October 7th, the words “Never Again” have really felt false and not in line with reality. They are words now, that have made Israelis and Jews around the Globe realize that the real evil lurking around the corner, is still there, waiting to rear its ugly head and sink its teeth into people.

On October 7th, the world and life of all Jewish people stood still here in the country of Israel and around the Globe. Never again did we think we would be seeing an extermination of 1,200 Jewish men, women, children and grandparents by the hands of evil. Jews who had family members killed in the Holocaust and some who even fled to Israel from the Holocaust felt for a moment that truly, nowhere is safe. Jewish young women and men, mowed down by hand grenades and terrorist bullets while they were trying to enjoy a dance party and festival. Families pulled from their beds on Shabbat and babies being slaughtered and burned alive in front of their parents That day, the hands of evil destroyed and ruined the lives and future of generations of Jewish people to come. More than 135,000 displaced Israeli Jews and Arab families removed from their homes across the whole entire country due to Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis and the tyrannical government of Iran as they call on Muslim extremist around the globe to boycott Israel, kill Jews in the streets and drive the Jewish infidels from their beds. Words echoed only 76 years ago all too similar to a man that had a bad mustache and horrible idea, right?

Never again truly is not, never again. It’s a mistake sentence that made us Israelis and Jews too comfortable as we tried to live in peace with our neighbors. Words that cost us dearly in the form of innocent lives that will never get to experience life in any of its seasons. Never again was a temporary feeling and a false hope in people from around the world, to truly learn from the mistakes of the past and live life making the right decision to love people and live in peace together.

For people like Polina, who experienced a life of bigotry, hatred and seen the death of her friends and family, at the hands of who she once called neighbors. She has so much wisdom, love and depth to share with the world, and to all of us, living in the Israel holocaust. This war and the death that has come to Jewish people feels like we never truly left the Holocaust of the great war. It just followed us home, changed names, countries and leaders and even attached itself to a religion.

Closing Thoughts On : Israeli Holocaust survivors

We hope that in all of this pain and hurt that the Jewish people are experiencing, that you our beloved reader, can take time to reflect, pray and ask how you can be a part of positive change for every person here in Israel and the Middle East. Until next time, may the Lord bless you and keep you. And may you never have to experience the pain that Polina, and the remaining 150,000 Israel Holocaust Survivors ever did.

Shalom from Israel.
